Experimental Camera
Description
The purpose of this camera is to allow the user to control how much they want to be seen. Even the highest resolution obfiscates a clear view of the subject. The idea of the slider was necessary to give the user control. It also represents the idea that cameras just interpret data into little squares that resemble subjects. It's a dissection. I chose to have only the green value show to further the idea of secrecy/privacy/stealth that is associated with this night-vision-esque color.
Reflection
I knew I wanted to play with the pixel-ness of the camera to emphasize it's machine nature. I wanted to design something that would abstract the image to a point where the subject would think... " huh these are really just squares on a screen". I thought about playing with hues and filters like in the second picture below, which I did incorporate more intentionally in the final code. I also thought about repeating the image to the point where it was unrecognizable like in the last picture, but that proved to be conceptually lacking. While learning to create a camera I was often taken aback by the abruptness of the camera opening (even though I consented to it). I thought about all the other cameras I was "captured" by without my knowledge. I wish I had the ability to make myself into random squares in some of those cases.
